COMING FROM Belclare, CO GALWAY TO OUR NATIONAL SCHOOL

Castlehackett National School is approximately 6.5KM from Belclare Village. On the way from Belcare you will pass the wonderful Knockma Hill which can be seen for miles and miles around . It is said that Knockma is supposed to be the burial ground of Queen Maeve of Connacht ! And according to “This is Galway” , Queen Maeve was the granddaughter to Noah who was famous for his ark ! Its said that she was refused entry to the Ark and instead brought a group to Knockma Hill near Belclare !

We have also played the Belclare National School Team a number of times !

You can also come from Belcare via the entrance the Knockma Woods itself , where you can park up and explore the hill and the amazing walks it has to offer . This route is approx 9.4KM.

Belclare

Belclare has a Football Pitch and Playground close by , and Belclare itself is part of Corofin GAA ( The 2 were merged many years ago ) . Many of our Students live in Belcare due the proximity to our School.
