Dear Parents, Pupils and Friends of Castlehackett N.S.,

I wish to inform you that I received correspondence late last week to the effect that I was successful in my application for principal in Scoil Chroí Naofa, Athenry. It is my intention to commence my new position in Athenry on Monday the 5th of November 2018 (after the Halloween break).

I want to take this opportunity to thank parents, pupils and all the friends of Castlehackett N.S. for the marvellous years I’ve spent in your company. I have some fabulous memories from my time in Castlehackett N.S. both inside and outside the classroom. The one outstanding facet of Castlehackett that I will cherish and sadly miss are all the relationships that I have developed with all of you over the years. Of course I realise and I hope you do too that while I’m leaving the school, I’m not leaving the area and I will have the pleasure of meeting you all walking and running on Cnoc Meadha and at various community events in the years ahead!

I arrived quietly in the summer of 2014 and that is the way I now wish to depart. I trust you will honour my request and channel all your energies into adding to the big success that Castlehackett N.S. has become. All I ever wanted to do and still desire professionally is to make a difference for the good in the lives of the young people entrusted to me. Together, we made that difference and that legacy will always be immensely satisfying to me. My sincerest gratitude for everything always.

As we all now move forward and make new beginnings, I wish Castlehackett N.S. every success and I will always remain a loyal friend of the school.

Go n-éirí go geal libh go léir!

Slán agus beannacht Dé oraibh,

Fergal Naughton
