The Caherlistrane/Kilcoona Community Council are organising another ‘Tea on the Lawn’ family event at Castlehackett House on Sunday 11 September from 2pm to 5pm. The last event prior to Covid was a really enjoyable day and we’re hoping Sunday, 11 September will be just as good.

This year, the Council are hoping to get the parish children involved and as such, awards will be given to the best costumes for children up to and including 2nd class (theme details on flyer attached). For children in 3rd to 6th class, awards will be given for the best paintings depicting fairies/leprechauns at Knockma or something related to that theme – we will let the children’s imagination and creativity run on that one. The paintings will be picked up from each national school on Friday, 9 September to ensure the Council have time to judge and arrange for them to be displayed on the Sunday.

Council are hoping to give a 1st and 2nd award to each category and national school (Donnaghpatrick, Kilcoona, Knockroon and Castlehackett). awards will be more of a token of achievement than anything – the Council just want to ensure participation and enjoyment for the children more than anything else. Sweets and treats will be organised for all participants.

Categories will be:

  1. Baby infants and high infants
  2. 1st and 2nd class
  3. 3rd and 4th class
  4. 5th and 6th class

Entertainment and fun activities are arranged for both adults and children along with some excellent prizes for the Council’s fundraising raffle on the day. First prize in the raffle will be a B&B night (in the Kings Room) for two people in Castlehacket House along with a bottle of wine, sponsored by Castlehackett House. Amazing prize. More will follow.

Save the date and hopefully see you all soon.

In the meantime if you have any questions, you can revert to Geraldine Lee, secretary of the Community Council (087 0504624) or John McGrath, treasurer of the Community Council (087 9324697).
